North Crete ship-to-ship jet fuel transfer
In 2014, Fendercare conducted their first ship-to-ship (STS) transfer operation off the island of Crete. Over 25,000 metric tonnes of Jet A1 specification fuel was safely transferred from a Long Range (LR1) size tanker to a smaller Medium Range (MR) tanker to the north of Crete.
The two vessels were brought alongside each other with both ships “underway” (slow steaming) with the cargo transferred whilst vessels were drifting.
